FORMER ICARDA DIRECTOR GENERAL PROF. DR. ADEL EL-BELTAGY AWARDED FOR LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENTS

Prof. Dr. Adel El-Beltagy, a former Director-General of ICARDA, was recently recognized by at the “Dr. M.S. Swaminathan Award for Leadership in Agriculture” for his “lifetime contributions in national, regional and international agricultural research that changed the lives of poor farmers of West Asia, North Africa (CWANA) and Central Asia and Caucasus (CAC) countries.”

Dr. Chandrashekhar Biradar, Team Leader of ICARDA’s GeoAgro for Sustainable Agroecosystems, was awarded the India Agri-Extension Award 2021 in Innovation in Agricultural Extension.
ICARDA Ph.D. Student Wins Best Poster Award

Researcher Médiha Khamassi Khbou, studying her Ph.D. in collaboration with ICARDA and lecturer at the Ecole Nationale de Médecine Vétérinaire in Tunisia, received the Best Poster Presentation award during the latest 14th International Symposium on Ticks and Tick-borne Diseases.
Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands of the Arab League (ACSAD) Shield

Dr. Nasr presented the shield of ACSAD to Mr. Abousabaa in recognition of ICARDA’s role in the important developments of agricultural scientific research in the region.

ICARDA secured four finalist spots and won two of the Inspire Challenge seven awards.
Crop Science Society Of America 2020 Outstanding Paper Award

ICARDA Scientist won the 2020 Outstanding Paper Award of Crop Science Journal by the Crop Science Society of America (CSSA) for their paper titled "Root System Architecture and Its Association with Yield under Different Water Regimes in Durum Wheat".
ICARDA’s Dr. Safaa Kumari is a BBC 100 Woman 2020

Dr. Safaa Kumari, an eminent Syrian plant virologist at ICARDA, was acknowledged in the BBC’s 100 Women 2020 for her inspiring and influential work in protecting global crops from devastating diseases.

International Crop Science Award 2019

Paul Struik, professor of crop physiology of Wageningen University & Research, and ICARDA board member was awarded the International Crop Science Award 2019 for outstanding contributions to agronomy.
2018 Awards
Silver Prize at the 2018 Enterprise Business Collaboration Award

The Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning online platform (MEL), used by eight CGIAR Research Programs (CRPs) and Centers, won the silver prize at the 2018 Enterprise Business Collaboration Award in Berlin in the category of ‘Best Collaboration Infrastructure’.
ICARDA Scientist Receives "Gatekeeper" Award for Conserving Crops

Chief of ICARDA’s gene bank Ahmed Amri received an award for his life-long work on crops. The Legacy Award, dubbed “Gatekeeper” award, was given as part of the Svalbard Global Seed Vault ’s 10-year anniversary by Crop Trust, a Germany-based non-profit organization.

ICARDA’s project “Deployment of Molecular Durum Breeding to the Senegal Basin: Capacity Building to Face Global Warming” has been awarded the 2017 Olam Prize for Innovation in Food Security.
