ICARDA is thrilled to announce that Dr Amit Gautam, National Associate Scientist (Durum Wheat Breeding) at ICARDA’s Food Legume Research Platform (FLRP), Amlaha, India has been honoured with the “Best Oral Presentation Award” at the 5th International Group Meeting organized by ICAR-Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research Karnal (27th -29th March 2024).

Dr. Gautam's presentation, titled “The ICARDA durum wheat program for resilient dryland farming” was part of Theme I, focusing on cereal improvement through conventional breeding, biotechnology and genetic research. The presentation highlighted the importance of breeding product profiles that integrate multiple traits and emphasized the significance of strong collaborative networks across different locations and partners. This approach facilitates the development and adaptation of major climate-smart traits and enables the identification of the best entries with accelerated genetic gains in dryland conditions.

Within this framework, he collaborates with Dr. Filippo M.
