With hotter, drier conditions threatening livelihoods in Tunisia, ICARDA is stepping in with solutions that matter. Through the Crop Trust's BOLD project, our scientists are developing and testing drought-tolerant barley varieties in collaboration with local researchers and farmers.
From on-farm trials in the Kef and Kalaat Senan regions to varieties nearing national release, ICARDA scientists and local farmers are collaborating closely to ensure that improved barley reaches those who need it most. By combining science, innovation, and local knowledge, we are helping farmers adapt to - and thrive in - a changing climate.
