Workshop on the sustainable development of silvopastoral systems in Tunisia
As part of the PRIMA-funded project “Transforming the Mediterranean Region through Agroforestry: Large-Scale Restoration of Degraded Lands by Overcoming Socioeconomic and Sociocultural Barriers for Agroforestry Adoption,” ICARDA, and General Directorate of Forests (DGF), are hosting a workshop on 23 January to advance the sustainable development of silvopastoral systems in Tunisia. This event will bring together key stakeholders, including government agencies, research institutions, and development organizations, to discuss implementing sustainable silvopastoral systems in Tunisia.
The workshop will highlight ICARDA’s innovative interventions to promote the adoption of silvopastoral systems, as well as the collaborative approaches to enhancing ecosystem services, improving livelihoods, and ensuring long-term land productivity. It will also emphasize the vital role of the General Directorate of Forests (DGF) in advancing sustainable restoration efforts across Tunisia.
Speakers include Mohamed Naoufel Ben Haha, Director General of DGF, and ICARDA scientists, Dr. Mounir Louhaichi, Dr. Azaiez Ouled Belgacem, and Dr. Sawsan Hassan will engage in key discussions, sharing their expertise in agroforestry and land restoration.
