ICARDA at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan

The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), will be held from November 11-22, 2024, in Baku, Azerbaijan in Western Asia. This next World Climate Conference, COP29, similar to previous conferences, will aim to further the objectives of the UNFCCC and the Paris Agreement by working to limit global warming, adapt to the effects of climate change, and secure funding for these efforts.

ICARDA is proud to announce that a high-level delegation, led by our Director General, Aly Abousabaa, will attend this pivotal event. Together with colleagues from CGIAR, our delegation will host workshops and actively participate in events organized by esteemed partner organizations. ICARDA will emphasize the necessity of increased international collaboration for a climate-smart transformation in food, land, and water systems to enhance global food security and advocate for increased global funding in agricultural research.
