The International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) is organizing a Training Course on Genetic Resources Conservation and Use, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from December 11 - 17, 2024.
The objectives of the workshop are to provide training on approaches for plant genetic resources conservation and use, including:
- Basic concepts of plant identification and conservation;
- Genebank processes: Regeneration, viability, health testing, documentation, distribution and policies;
- Enhancing the use of genetic resources: Data management, subsetting and genomics.
The training will include a half-day field visit to the national genebank in Uzbekistan.
ICARDA looks forward to hosting this capacity-building activity and providing training to NARS colleagues in the CWANA region to promote the conservation and management of natural resources including agrobiodiversity.
