Tawffiq Istanbuli is an agronomist with more than a decade of experience in rural engineering and crop breeding. In 2009, he joined ICARDA as a chickpea research associate in Aleppo, Syria, and in 2015 began coordinating ICARDA’s Biodiversity and Crop Improvement farm in Terbol, Lebanon, as a part of the Biodiversity and Integrated Gene Management program. He received his master’s degree in rural engineering from Aleppo University in 2010, where his thesis focused on the effects of drought stress on barley. His research was published in the Arab Journal for Arid Environments.
