Nominate women scientists for the 2019 TWAS awards
The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), which aims to enhance the advancement of science in developing countries, is now inviting nominations for the following 2019 prizes devoted to women scientists: the TWAS-Abdool Karim Prize; the TWAS-Fayzah M. Al-Kharafi Prize; and the TWAS-Samira Omar Innovation for Sustainability Prize.
Please find below information on these prizes and relevant links. Nominations can only be submitted electronically through the new TWAS online platform. Click the ‘New Nomination’ button to start a new nomination or the ‘Resume’ button to resume working on saved nominations. The deadline to submit complete nominations for each of the prizes is 31 July 2019.

The 2019 TWAS-Abdool Karim Prize
Eligible candidates are women scientists who are nationals of a low income African country and have demonstrated scientific achievements in biological sciences.

The 2019 TWAS-Fayzah M. Al-Kharafi Prize
Eligible candidates are women from ‘Scientifically and Technologically Lagging (STL)’ countries, who have been living and working in such countries for a minimum of two years immediately prior to their nomination. Nominations for the 2019 prize are invited in the field of Social Sciences.

The 2019 TWAS Samira Omar Innovation for Sustainability Prize
Eligible candidates are women scientists from Least Developing Countries (LDCs). Nominations for the 2019 prize are invited in an area relevant for sustainability. Details of eligible thematic areas are available at: https://twas.org/opportunity/twas-samira-omar-innovation-sustainability-prize
