Research Associate - Curator rhizobium & coordinating viability testing

Badreddine Sijilmassi is a research associate based at ICARDA’s Morocco platform in Rabat. He joined ICARDA in 2016 as curator of the Center’s rhizobium collection, within the Biodiversity and Crop Improvement Research Program, and is supporting the establishment of a new rhizobium laboratory in Morocco, as well as reconstructing active and base rhizobium collections.

Previously, Sijilmassi worked as a research and development bio-engineer in the green biotechnology center at the Moroccan Foundation for Advanced Science, Innovation, and Research.

He holds a master’s degree in micro-organism and plant protection from the Ibn Tofail University of Kenitra in Morocco, and is currently working towards his Ph.D. in microbiology and molecular biology at the Mohammed V University in Rabat.
